Motorcycle Riding in Alaska? Thought there was snow all the time?

It's amazing the number of people from the Lower 48 that seem to have this misconception. Here in Fairbanks, we have approximately 5-6 months of riding time. Of course, if you're brave(or stupid, whichever), you can start riding sometimes as early as the middle of March. I have seen some bikers out on the road all winter long. Me, I prefer to wait until the ice is off the roads, which this year was the middle of April.

For those of you that may be interested, the 2005 Alaska State Biker's Rally will be held in Fairbanks, Alaska, from June 16-18. Looking for more info? Go to http://www.fairnet.org/hog/rally01.htm to get the stuff you need.

Down in the Anchorage area? The Last Frontier Motorcycle Club, www.lastfrontiermcc.com is having their first ride Thursday, May 5 at 6:30pm. Join them if you can.

This is by no means a complete listing of all the ride events in Alaska. I've only listed a few. I will add more as I find them.
