From Alaska

I have lived in Alaska's Interior for more than 20 years, the first three in an Athabaskan village and the remainder in or around Fairbanks. The years have been like years in other places, but colored by the extremely vibrant hues the Alaskan pallette offers us.

I have been a public school teacher since 1978, working with students ranging from kindergarten through 8th grades. Currently, I teach computer skills classes at Tanana Junior High School which is a fortunate 3 minute walk from my front door. I hold a MEd. in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University. The degree was prompted by a strong interest in the uses of technology in the educational process.

I live with my family in a rambling, old house in an old neighborhood with wide, quiet streets, birch and white spruce trees, moose often browsing in yards, and kids of all ages out of doors - winter and summer. Learning new things is important to me, whether it's about video production, distant places, or my latest – wikis. Aside from shoveling snow in the winter and keeping up with the grass that grows rapidly in summer, I spend time playing with cameras, biking, reading, hiking, skiing, messing around with computers, cooking, and dancing Argentine tango.
